Taking art and design to yet another level, Smeg and Dolce & Gabbana unveiled their latest (and third) collaboration at Milan’s Design Fair (Salone del Mobile) on Tuesday April 17, 2018.

‘Sicily is my Love’ – a tribute to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Sicilian homeland – is a celebration of Made in Italy authenticity and showcases the brands’ combined passion for creativity, design and art in the form of a freestanding cooker and rangehood plus a coordinating FAB28 refrigerator.

In a spectacular example of design elevating everyday convenience to a true work of art, each piece is lavishly decorated in the bold colours and decorative motifs of Sicily.  The history, culture, cuisine and beauty of the Sicilian landscape are captured in two variants on the theme.

The first, in the rich, bold hues of fiery red and orange, depicts artwork inspired by the traditional hand-painted Sicilian cart and the island’s puppet theatre.  The second, in a majolica print in shades of blue and white, features images of Mount Etna and the ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux in the Valley of the Temples.tr90dgm9_1

Each beautifully rendered appliance is a true masterpiece of both style and technology – the Victoria TR90 Thermoseal freestanding 90cm cooker, the KT90 canopy hood and the FAB28 retro refrigerator.

There were also new additions to the Sicily is my Love small appliances collection (released last year).  These included a drip coffee machine, a hand blender with stand and a four-slice toaster.  dcf01dgeuThe reaction was immediate – worldwide approval on a large scale!  These new products are not expected in Australia until mid 2019 and pricing has not yet been released.

Smeg is the only brand to foster this ingenious fusion of ‘Made in Italy’ style, art and fashion and bring couture-level design to the home appliance sector.
