While Melbourne abounds with style and cultural events, in this brave new world of multi-storey apartments, flat-pack furniture and mass-produced designer goods, it is increasingly difficult for us to express our own unique style.

For lovers of fine things, this year’s Melbourne Fair offers home owners and fashion lovers the opportunity to find their own unique centrepiece of style and personality around which they can design their home decor or fashion wardrobe.

“A rare and unique Art Deco, Mid Century Modern, Vintage or Antique piece from the Melbourne Fair can completely transform a modern ‘flat-pack’ home décor into a personal style signature,” Event Organiser, Dianne Pickett said.

With more than 60 exhibitors and dealers displaying iconic furniture, jewellery, paintings, prints, posters, books, vintage fashion and couture, and a myriad luxury vintage items there is something across all price ranges to enliven our homes or wardrobes.

Each piece is not only an object of beauty but comes with its own story to capture the imagination.

Being held only once a year, exhibitors will be presenting pieces especially selected for the fair which will be of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts alike like this rare piece of jewellery, The Swan by Alesio Boschi, a black diamond swan holding a Keshi pearl egg. A truly one of a kind piece.

It’s also an event to find that rare gift, engagement ring, or add to a collection of fine décor.

Ms Pickett said, ‘Visitors can also spend their time at the Fair immersed in chic fashion, by Dior, Chanel, or Ceil Chapman (Marilyn’s favourite designer). Watch the vintage fashion parades, fashion films, or just peruse the many fashion pieces presented for sale.
