New at ORGATEC 2018: Platform for architecture startups

Stand: Microsoft, Halle 11.2 Stand: Microsoft, Halle 11.2

Startups from the architecture and construction economy have the possibility for the first time from 23 – 26 October 2018 to present their ideas and products in the context of ORGATEC in Cologne. Not only the founders profit from this offering: the international trade public becomes familiar with the wealth of ideas of young companies, and the around 700 exhibitors from around the world have the unique opportunity to draw the attention of young creatives to their companies. All of that will be possible in the Startup Corner at ORGATEC 2018.

Young companies and startups interested in participating in the Startup Corner at ORGATEC 2018 can apply until 31 August 2018 under www.startupcorner.rocks. A total of 15 to 20 startups will present their visions of the modern architecture and construction economy in the special area and in this way enable trade visitors access to innovative products, services and ideas from the architecture, construction and technology, engineering, building management, IT & services and work world segments. The exhibition space also offers adequate space for exchanging ideas, networking and esablishing new partnerships.

In addition to the exhibition area, the STARTUP CORNER has a stage on which an exclusive programme will be offered over four days from 23-26 October. This will be ensured by both the young founders in the form of daily pitches, and by successful experts and representatives of established companies who will share their opinions, experience and knowledge on current themes from the field of architecture with the public.

They include, for example, Raphael Gielgen, Head of Research & Trend Scouting at Vitra. His lecture is entitled “Reboot your office for the next economy”. Raphael Gielgen has spent most of his career making the world of work a little better. Curiosity about architecture, technology and the societal transformation in the context of work worlds are his fuel – always linked with the question of how the globalised world of work is changing, and what influence this is having on the existing business models. “Build digitally with artificial intelligence” is the advice of Dr. Alexander Rieck.

He is a scientific employee in the Smart Urban Environments department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO) in Stuttgart, and a partner and director of the international architecture agency LAVA. Rieck currently works as Head of Corporate Projects on the implementation and realisation of the research project Morgenstadt (city of tomorrow). He is also designing a science city in Riyadh with his architecture agency.

STARTUP AWARD: founder prize in the architecture and construction economy The event is concluded with the presentation of the “STARTUP AWARD Architecture & Building“. The award distinguishes future-oriented technologies and services that are designed to promote the continuing success of the construction economy. A jury of architects, entrepreneurs and investors with international experience will decide on the recipient of the award. The award ceremony takes place on 25 October 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the context of a festive ceremony at ORGATEC 2018 in Cologne.

Architecture & Building Startup Corner
The number of young entrepreneurs from the architecture and real estate industries is very low, and there is still too little visibility and too few platforms for startups from this specialist field. In order to change this, ap35, the agency for architecture marketing, together with Peter Förster, are bringing the Startup Corner to life at ORGATEC 2018.

Eingang Süd

In addition to representatives of established companies, startups from the architecture and construction economy will also have their own exhibition area at their disposal for the first time. The offering is directed at all those who follow their vision with great passion and free of traditional structures and create innovative solutions. We promote them with the right network and the space for all kinds of imaginative ideas for changing the modern world of work.
