Recognising that success in interior design stems from exceptional pieces, a superb eye and embracing each clients style, Coco Republic gives insight into why Timothy Oulton has remained a success at their gallery. Interior designer Amanda Pocock shares a on a client’s experience incorporating Timothy Oulton into her bright inner-West Sydney apartment.
Regarding the client, the brief was clear. With a young family under the age of 13, Coco Republic sought to create a striking space for entertaining guests while retaining a functioning family home. The experienced Amanda Pocock took her cue from the client who gravitated towards the drama and luxury of Timothy Oulton from Coco Republic’s Sydney showroom.
“My vision for the space was a dramatic, entertainer¹s paradise whilst also catering for the everyday lifestyle of a family of four with a dog. Timothy Oulton’s designs make a perfect choice for entertaining, while their robust materiality makes them suitable for everyday use,” Amanda says.
Luxury is no longer sacrificed for functionality, and there’s no exception for versatility with Oulton designs. Amanda says, “The Timothy Oulton pieces have a fantastic feeling of luxury and glamour that a lot of my clients want, with a beautiful range of materials and finishes.” Timothy Oulton makes it apparent that there shouldn’t be any short-cuts or lacklustre feelings when it comes to perfecting a home.
Timothy Oulton often works internationally with recognised interior designers. His success stems from quality craftsmanship, using the finest-quality leathers from South America as well as hand-stitching and hand-tufting each piece. Oulton assures clients, “If it takes 12 days to make, I’m drawn to it. The more intricate and detailed it is, the more authentic and unique it will be.” The provenance of materials is also essential to the Timothy Oulton ethos. Reclaimed weathered timber may come from decommissioned Chinese fishing junks or the century old beams of an English distillery. Each piece is designed to celebrate the history of the materials and to give them a second life. Imperfections and ‘signs of life’ considered to be marks of authenticity and soul.
