This year, the exhibition occupied 19 indoor pavilions with an additional 15 outdoor halls and two self-construction stands – covering nearly 300 000 square meters within the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

Both contemporary furniture categories and FMC sectors received an expansion of almost 50 000 square meters due to the move-out of whole home furnishing categories and Design of Designers which joined the concurrent event Maison Shanghai, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre (SWEECC).

Focusing on the aesthetics of lifestyle, Maison Shanghai presented three themed sectors under the concept of ‘Maison’ – the French word for ‘home.’ These sectors were:

  • Maison Essential
  • Maison Blocks
  • Design China

These categories fell under the big theme emphasising respectively on ‘home aesthetics,’ ‘urban aesthetics,’ and ‘aesthetics trends.’ Such sectors implied the gradual upgrading from ‘home’ to ‘city’ and then to ‘country’ – allowing visitors to find the value of lifestyle aesthetics in every hall.
