The ZEEQ Smart Pillow by REM-Fit has earned silver in the International Design Awards in the Home Interior Products category.
The 10-year-old competition included categories from interiors, fashion, products, and graphics, with a field of over 1000 entries from 52 countries across the globe. Entries were examined by an honorary jury of design experts including personalities, publishers and executives. The jury rewarded the best professional and emerging designers for their achievements in design, creativity, usability and innovation.
The ZEEQ smart pillow streams audio, tracks sleep activity, monitors snoring and links to a smartphone app to allow the user to analyze sleep data. It can also work as an alarm clock. It comes in a quilted cover that is removable for washing.
ZEEQ was developed by an in-house product development team and launched on Kickstarter in July 2016. Funded in just 16 hours, it reached 800% of its initial $50,000 goal by the end of the campaign. After delivering on the campaign by the end of 2016, the team brought ZEEQ to the Consumer Electronics Show, where the smart pillow earned a CES Innovation honor and garnered national attention, including an appearance on CNET Live.
ZEEQ has since been featured in multiple news outlets including TIME Magazine, Sports Illustrated, InStyle and Reader’s Digest. In March of 2017, ZEEQ earned a European Product Design Award, and has most recently secured second place in the International Design Awards.
“We’re using this attention to propel our efforts into making ZEEQ better than ever,” says Warrick Bell, co-inventor of ZEEQ. Later this year, the REM-Fit Team plans to release updates that will add new capabilities to the Smart Pillow. “We have a long road map, and are keeping pace. The good news is that current ZEEQ owners will continue to benefit from this development, as we will be pushing many upgrades through software updates.”
