Drawing inspiration from the bold and minimal comes Urban Road’s dynamic new collection for Autumn Winter 2018 – Continuum.

A nod to the retrospective, Urban Road’s latest collection is their own unique spin on minimalism – a celebration of simple lines and forms, soft muted colour palettes and organic curves. Yet, as the collection progresses, it dares to dip its toes into much edgier waters with dark, moody subject matter and bold photographic imagery, culminating in a continuous sequence of artworks that are at times not perceivably different, yet stunningly diverse – a Continuum.

An embodiment of all things mid-century modern with just a touch of abstract expressionism, Continuum finds its inspiration in retro throwbacks to the likes of Ellsworth Kelly, Victor Pasmore, Jean Arp and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. Soft, geometric shapes find their form amongst soft layers of brush strokes; dark textures and movements come to life in abstract statements; natural intricacies are highlighted in oil-painted contrasts; and contemporary paths are forged with Urban Road’s painstakingly curated collection of striking black and white photographic pieces. The artworks assemble themselves into a Continuum of forms, textures and colours – a dynamic spectrum of the artistic journey.1964447_l
