Dynamic husband and wife duo, Joseph and Laura Luca are the brains and brawn behind Whitewick Home – a Melbourne based online store specialising in handmade home décor and gifts.

“I have always enjoyed being creative and making things for the home such as pouring my own candles, painting walls and canvases, and taking on DIY projects,” explains Laura.

“My husband and I are similar, as we both share the same interests. Three years ago I started giving candles as gifts to family members, followed by eager friends who wanted them too. It was in this moment, the lightbulb went off – I was determined to start a homewares business.”about-us-image

Laura isn’t kidding when she says that her and her hubby share likeminded interests. Her background is as an architectural draftsperson, and Joseph is an industrial designer. Both have a keen eye for design as they live and breathe it every day.

“I’d like to think we have a keen eye on what the current trends are and designs that would go well with our target market. We spend a lot of time closely following inspiring designers and take inspiration from modern Scandinavian design. We believe the aesthetic of our products are important as it represents who we are,” says Laura.screenshot_6

“Apart from our main range of glass jar candles, we also make concrete home decor such as concrete vessel candles, door stops and bowls. In addition, we offer modern hexagonal marble coasters, a beautiful range of lavender scented heat packs and gorgeous pillow covers, perfect for outdoor settings.”screenshot_10

Laura and Joseph are always looking to expand their range and have a few designs in the works which are scheduled to launch this summer, so stay tuned!screenshot_9

Their extensive range ensures you’ll certainly find a gift to suit any personality. To date, their candles have been their bestseller!

“Who doesn’t like candles? They can be perfect as a gift or even as a pick-me-up for a space in the home that needs ‘enlightening,’ says Laura.screenshot_5

“Yet, as our products are for all different parts of the home, they all sell quite well. I would say close runner-up’s would be our lavender heat packs and concrete door stops, they have been a great success!”

Integral to the brands core values are locally-sourced, made and owned materials.

“We knew that at the core of our company values, we would provide products that were handmade right here in Melbourne. For example, our heat packs are filled with both Australian wheat and lavender. We believe by making products in-house, we will be encouraging and supporting the market for locally-made goods.”screenshot_8

Whitewick Home is also interested in adding to their growing list of stockists.

“We love working with boutiques, florists and giftware stores and developing great relationships with our wholesalers Australia-wide. If you are interested becoming a stockist, email us with your details and we’ll be happy to send you a copy of our wholesale catalogue,” says Laura.
